At the 2018 IMPACT Conference, members of the Association for Linen Management (ALM) selected three well-qualified leaders for service on the Board. Three seats were on the ballot: president-elect and two director positions.
For the first time in ALM history, the votes for president-elect resulted in a tie. James Mangini, RLLD, senior director sterile processing & linen services at Maine Medical Center, conceded to Richard Bott, RLLD, CLLM, director of supply chain services at Intermountain Healthcare, on Monday, March 19, at the conclusion of the meeting. Bott will serve as president-elect under Judy Reino, president of Reino Linen Service, when she steps into the role of ALM Board president on July 1.
“The tie result for president-elect shows how our members recognize the strong leadership we have throughout our association,” said Linda Fairbanks, executive director of ALM. “Every candidate would be a wonderful addition to our Board, and we look forward to working with all of them going forward.”
Bott currently serves on the ALM Board as treasurer, has over 25 years’ experience in healthcare laundry services, and has been a member of ALM since 2007. Bott has filled leadership positions with the International Association for Healthcare Textile Management Board, Executive Committee Vice-Chair for the Columbus Community School, and is a leader of the facility Supply Chain Guidance Council.
“I am very excited to be working with ALM in this new capacity as we work toward continuous improvement in the laundry and linen operations that we support,” said Bott. “I am looking forward to developing the next generation of laundry professionals, who will bring innovative ideas and processes to help our industry achieve heights that currently seem out of reach.”
Current Board president, Cindy Molko, RLLD, CLLM, director of linen and central services at The Mayo Clinic, is excited to have a strong Board in place as her term ends.
“I have very much enjoyed my time leading ALM and look forward to continued efforts to build education and information sharing across the multiple segments of our industry,” said Molko. “This fantastic group of people shows why ALM remains the textile industry’s best resource, and they are positioned to take the organization to the next level.”
The two available director positions were awarded to Kathy Harris, RLLD, CLLM, laundry manager at Sea Island Laundry; and Nathan Rivers, RLLD, CLLM, environmental protection specialist at Bay Pines VA Healthcare. Harris and Rivers both currently serve on the Board as an appointed director and the vice president, respectively. ALM members previously voted to change the Board structure, eliminating the position of vice president and having the president-elect act as primary support for the president.
“It is truly an honor to be re-elected, and I look forward to serving as a representative for the hospitality market with the Association,” said Harris. “ALM has always been the best resource I turn to within the laundry industry for education for managers, linen techs, and washroom personnel.”
“I’m honored to remain a member of this Board,” said Rivers. “I hope to continue providing new and forward-thinking ideas that will help advance this industry. I welcome our members to contact me directly with any ideas or concerns.”
