PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Textile laundering is increasingly being held to higher standards in the healthcare industry – here’s your chance to make a difference. The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) has started the nomination process with a “Call for Candidates” for the 2017-2019 HLAC Board of Directors.

Applications will be accepted immediately with a deadline of September 30, 2016 by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.  Nominations will not be accepted after this date and time.

“We’re looking for ambitious, forward-thinking, qualified candidates to help us with our mission of creating a world where every healthcare linen is processed by an HLAC-accredited laundry,” John Scherberger, HLAC board president, says. “Our success is beholden to the expertise of the men and women who compose our Board of Directors. They’re experience is making a significant difference in the way the best laundries process healthcare textiles in the name of patient safety and infection prevention.”

The HLAC Board of Directors consists of four classes of Directors. For 2017-2019, there are open positions in two Director Classes. The two classes with open positions are listed below:

Class 1 – represents textile maintenance companies (i.e. these are owner and/or operators of non-cooperative or in-house laundries) engaged in healthcare textile processing.

Class 2 – represents associations interested in healthcare textileprocessing such as, but not limited to, AHE, AORN, APIC, ALM, IAHTM, ARTA, ALM, or AAMI). Applicant must include a letter of approval from the representative association.

The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the management, finance and operations of HLAC in order to permit the organization to accomplish its mission and its purpose.  HLAC Board Members serve for a three (3)-year term and must be able to dedicate three (3) to four (4) hours per week to HLAC business (including conference calls and two in-person Board meetings per year).
