TRSA Annual Awards Winners

Forty awards and accolades are to be given to TRSA members for going above the call of duty in 2021-2022. The TRSA Awards recognize individuals and companies for the exceptional care and effort that is put into their operations, both routine and unaccustomed, according to a news release.

“It was humbling to see the abundance of nominations that were submitted to be recognized by our association,” said Joseph Ricci, TRSA president and CEO. “I am very excited for some of our members to be recognized for all of their hard work”. TRSA Industry Awards will be presented at a dinner at the Legislative Conference, March 30-31, Westin Alexandria Old Town, Alexandria, VA.

TRSA Best Plant of the Year

The Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services in Linden, NJ will be honored as the 2022 winner of the TRSA Best Plant of the Year award. Opened in 2016, the 67,000-square-foot facility employs about 200 full-time equivalent employees, producing nearly 140,000 laundry pounds, serving 26 to 28 routes, operating seven days a week.

The Hygienically Clean Healthcare certified operation uses a variety of indicators to measure performance: profitability, energy use [1441 BTU/lb.], turnover [53%], safety [4.1% days away, job restriction, transfer rate (DART)] and the heavily tracked pounds per operator hour (POH, 213), calculated by using clean pounds shipped divided by total production hours, excluding maintenance and drivers.

Customer satisfaction is ensured through daily and weekly activities including data analytics, rounds with end users, surveys, quality fulfillment rate review and educational initiatives. Maintenance hours are 22% reactive and 78% preventive.
